ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — Two affordable housing projects will go before Asheville's Technical Review Committee on Monday, April 18.
The first project is proposed on .857 acres of property at 343 and 357 West Haywood Street. Plans call for 23 units at 30 percent of the area's median income, nine units at 60 percent of the median income, and 13 units at 80 percent of the median income.
ASHEVILLE CITY COUNCIL TO VOTE ON AFFORDABLE HOUSING FUNDING REQUEST
The project is being proposed by Haywood Street Community Development.
Asheville's city council has approved millions of dollars in grants and loans to help fund the project. Buncombe County commissioners approved a $749,000 grant last month. Dogwood Health Trust is proposing $2 million in support.
FAIRHAVEN SUMMIT PROJECT WOULD BRING UP TO 77 AFFORDABLE HOUSING UNITS TO SOUTH ASHEVILLE
The second development, the Fairhaven Summit Project, would bring 77 one, two, and three-bedroom affordable units to Sweeten Creek Road in south Asheville. Rent for those apartments would range from 30-80 percent of the median income.
