Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) announces plans to open the Hominy Valley Health Center in early May. The health center site will be co-located at the Hominy Valley Crisis Center operated by Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry. Currently more than 1,300 WNCCHS patients live in the Candler area, and the new site should make it much more convenient for many of them to obtain health care closer to home and will also increase access to care for others who live in the area. This expansion of WNCCHS model of affordable, integrated, community health care will give more options to more Buncombe County residents. The Hominy Valley Health Center was made possible by the generous support of the Dogwood Health Trust.

About WNCCHS
WNCCHS is a federally qualified community health center located in Asheville, North Carolina. Our goal is to provide all residents of Buncombe and nearby counties with a medical home and with a provider they can know and trust, in an atmosphere that promotes respect and dignity. WNCCHS has been serving western North Carolina since 1994, and as a federally qualified health center since 2007. In 2021 WNCCHS served almost 14,000 unduplicated patients, while providing COVID-19 testing and screening, as well as COVID-19 vaccinations to the community. WNCCHS is governed by a patient majority board of directors.
