Jordan Kinser

Jordan Kinser is originally from just over the mountains in Butler, Tennessee, and he is proud to call Western North Carolina home. He is passionate about creating prosperous, healthy communities for all Appalachians. After earning his BA in History and Sociology in 2013, he worked as a Fellow with the Jessie Ball duPont Fund, managing over $3.6 million in philanthropic investments and conducting subject matter research for executive staff. Jordan has worked in a variety of nonprofit and corporate settings, conducting advocacy work against payday lending, leading workforce development workshops and even managing commercial honeybee hives. As a Data Analyst for Verisk Analytics, he processed property condition data and conducted research on novel datasets and forecasting methods to help clients identify risks from threats such as insurance fraud, the built environment and climate change. He is excited to be part of the Learning, Evaluation and Data team at Dogwood and to help improve the health and wellbeing of our community. In his free time, he enjoys exercising, tending a three-acre hobby farm and grabbing coffee or exploring the mountains with his wife Helen and elder pup Jasper.
