Abigail V. Lorber

As Grants Manager for Dogwood Health Trust, Abigail V. Lorber considers service to our Western North Carolina community and making a positive impact on people’s lives as her greatest priorities. Her work focuses on Dogwood’s grants and community investment processes, cross-functional thought partnership and collaboration, and team training and support.

Abigail has over twenty years’ experience in health and health philanthropy administration in addition to time in the fields of education and public libraries. Prior to joining Dogwood in 2024, Abigail’s roles included both grantmaking and grantseeking. Abigail worked as Executive Assistant, Database Administrator, and Special Projects Administrator for St. David’s Foundation in Austin, Texas, and also spent 13 years as Grants and Philanthropy Specialist for CarePartners Foundation (now WNC Bridge Foundation) in Asheville, North Carolina.

Abigail holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.

Originally from New York City, Abigail moved to Asheville in 1999. Since that time, except for several years in Austin, she has called Buncombe County home. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, listening to and making music, reading, travel, and the company of her friends and family and the world’s best dog and loveliest cats.
