Abigail V. Lorber
Abigail V. Lorber has twenty years’ experience in health and health philanthropy administration as well as time in the fields of education and public libraries. She brings to the Grants Manager role a background in both grantseeking and grantmaking. Abigail spent 13 years as the Grants and Philanthropy Specialist for CarePartners Foundation in Asheville, North Carolina. During her time at CarePartners Foundation, her role included successfully obtaining grants for CarePartners Hospice, Rehabilitation Hospital, Adult Day Services and the Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly. Abigail also worked as Executive Assistant and Database Administrator for St. David’s Foundation in Austin, Texas. At St. David’s Foundation, she was an integral member of the community investments team and was key in implementing process improvements including a new process for capital grantmaking. Abigail conducts all her work with a focus on community service and making a positive impact on people’s lives.
Abigail holds a bachelor of arts from Wesleyan University In Middletown, Connecticut, a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education in New York City and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
Originally from New York City, Abigail moved to Asheville in 1999. Since that time, except for several years in Austin, she has called Buncombe County home. In her free time, she enjoys volunteering as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, listening to and making music, reading, travel and the company of her friends and family and the world’s best dog and loveliest cat.
