Jasper Everingham

Jasper Everingham is a recent graduate from Warren Wilson College, where they received a degree in social work. Passionate about supporting others and advancing social justice, they fuse academic theory with practical experience in their work to create real impacts. 

Originally from Vermont, Jasper has spent the last four years calling Asheville home. They have experience working with many nonprofit organizations in the Asheville area, including the 12 Baskets Cafe, the Mutual Aid Wellness Collective, and the Swannanoa Grassroots Alliance. They also interned with Project Access (a program run by the Western Carolina Medical Society), which helps provide specialized medical care and resource connections to Buncombe and Madison County residents who lack health insurance. During their internship, Jasper worked to tackle the issue of language barriers— an issue that many Project Access clients face— gathering data on non-English options offered by Project Access’s healthcare partners and speaking with stakeholder individuals to understand the realities of the issue and develop solutions. 

In their role as a fellow at Dogwood, Jasper is looking forward to taking a broader view of issues like food justice and healthcare access that they have already engaged with on a more hands-on level. Additionally, they are looking forward to expanding their knowledge in other fields like grant management that are difficult to get experience with as an undergraduate student. They are excited to learn from and contribute to every part of Dogwood that they work with, and to build experience through meaningful work. 

In their spare time, Jasper enjoys spending time in nature, ultimate frisbee, and playing games like Dungeons & Dragons.
