LaShonya McNeil

LaShonya McNeil serves as a Program and Strategy Officer at Dogwood Health Trust. Passionate about healthy and vibrant communities, authentic community engagement, and service excellence, she brings more than 15 years of experience working alongside nonprofit, private and public sector stakeholders to implement equity-centered public health, community development and philanthropic programs.

Prior to joining Dogwood, LaShonya was a Program Officer at LISC, where she supported a $60M inclusive economic development initiative, co-created and facilitated a community of practice for nonprofit leaders, and managed capacity-building grants focused on improving healthy food access, food system entrepreneurship, and physical activity spaces in historically disinvested places. In earlier roles, LaShonya backstopped multi-level health education campaigns as an ORISE Fellow with the U.S. Army Public Health Command and led the delivery of collaborative community health events as a Program Manager at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation.

LaShonya earned a Master of Public Health with a Leadership in Practice concentration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and two bachelor’s degrees from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. A proud native of rural North Carolina, she enjoys participating in community theatre, chasing adventure with her sister, and giving back to her hometown.
