Siquo Danvhna Cherokee Re-entry

The Siquo Danvhna, “They are living again,” Cherokee Re-entry team understands firsthand how powerful lived experience can be when it comes to reaching and serving tribal members of the Eastern Band Cherokee Indians (EBCI) who are re-joining the community following incarceration or court involvement. As enrolled members of the EBCI themselves – and with their own lived experience with substance use and/or mental health challenges – these certified peer support specialists excel at meeting clients exactly where they are to ensure a sustained recovery. One such client was recently able to purchase a car after having their driving privileges restored and is now successfully employed at the Cherokee Indian Hospital.

Following graduation from a rehabilitation center and a smooth transition into a transitional home, this participant remains active in the program, demonstrating a commitment to recovery and the desire to support others in their recovery journeys. Dogwood is proud to partner with the Siquo Danvhna team as they address each client’s unique needs through services including medication assisted treatment, employment assistance, transitional housing, harm reduction, community navigation and even gaining access to the basics such as food, clothing and hygiene supplies.
