Asheville, NC – The Dogwood Health Trust Board of Directors announced today that Antony Chiang is stepping down from his role as Chief Executive Officer. The Board expects to appoint an interim CEO while conducting a search for a permanent leader.

“During the past year, Antony worked closely with the Board to establish an innovative vision for Dogwood Health Trust. His contributions have been both impactful and valued,” said Janice W. Brumit, Chair of the Board of Directors. “As our focus shifts to operations, capacity building, and deepening relationships with our non-profit and community-based partners, our needs have evolved, and we require a different approach moving forward.”

As CEO, Antony conceived and launched critical programs based on a “Philanthropy 3.0 model,” such as the Leverage Fund, Impact Investing, and investments in Substance Use Disorder. He also orchestrated Dogwood’s pandemic response to COVID-19 and launched responsive grantmaking for Immediate Opportunity and Needs Grants and Racial Equity. In addition, Antony built out the Dogwood Health Trust staff in support of its grantmaking and programmatic activities.

The Board of Directors will appoint an interim CEO by the end of October. The Interim CEO will work closely with Dogwood Health Trust’s existing staff and in collaboration with the Board to assure continuity of programming, grantmaking and relationships with community organizations.

“Dogwood Health Trust is fortunate to have a leadership team and staff that is both talented and enormously committed to the health of the region. Due to our collaborative, community-focused model, the Board has strong ties to both the staff and our non-profit partners, assuring a seamless transition,” said Brumit. “We will continue to deepen relationships with partner organizations that share our purpose to understand, address and improve the communities we serve.”
